And I really mean that. Thursday evening I’ll be stepping back on the track for 12 1/2 laps of fun when I run by first 5k on an outdoor track since I was a young 21-year old. Now I’m almost 26? Well that’s besides the point, but I will be racing down at Widener University on Thursday and am itching to see what I can do out there. I ran 16:02 on the road about 10 days ago and hope I can buy at least three more seconds. My training has been going really well between long runs, early morning runs and workouts picking up a bit. Hopefully things click once I’m back out there.
But quick side note here, I can’t believe it’s been four years since I’ve graduated. Holy crap. So that means I’ve been working at WABC for 4 years too. Also holy crap.
Speaking of WABC, I just filled in for the 5am News Hour the past couple of days. I enjoyed, the morning work plus my usual work day does a number on me though. Still fun to say I was on the air in New York City as the lead in to Imus in the Morning.
There’s a bunch of things coming up that I’m pumped about. Racing some 5k’s is definitely one thing, but I’ve also got the return of baseball coming, The Walking Dead season finale on Sunday, Mad Men returning the week after and WRESTLEMANIA WEEKEND JUST 9 DAYS AWAY!!!
Yes, I am pathetically excited about my extended WrestleMania weekend. Judge me, I don’t mind. Going to Axxess, WrestleMania itself and then Monday Night Raw will be a lot of fun.
Somehow I posted about running, work, wrestling, The Walking Dead and other really cool things. Man, I’m just great.
Mosby!!!
Two new TV spots for Iron Man 3: watch now
Iron Man 3 has released a pair of new TV spots, revealing a glut of new material, some of which might be considered a touch spoilery…
I have much higher hopes for Iron Man 3 than 2. And really, 2 was still good

Check out the latest NBA Power Rankings from Matt Dahl Radio

I really hope Chow reveals himself as Chang in the finale of The Hangover trilogy.
Either way, them being back in Vegas makes this one better than Part 2 already.

MattDahlRadio.com: Are You Rooting for the Heat? -

Remember a time when they were Public Enemy No. 1? It seems like those days are behind us, even if there are plenty of haters still out there. The Miami Heat currently sit at a winning streak of 23. That’s good for the second longest winning ever. The only team in NBA history to have a longer streak was the 1971-72 Lakers, winners of 33 straight. Tonight the Heat will seek win number 24 in a row, and they head into Lebron James’ hometown of Cleveland to do it. Read more…
Okay, I’m really gonna try using this some more. I don’t know how much more, but at least some more.

Anywayyyyy. This past Saturday I ran a 5k, the Adrenaline 5k down in Haddonfield, NJ, which turns out to be a pretty competitive 5K for a Road Race in March. My official time was 16:02. I was content with it, but damn, so close to breaking 16, which going into is what I wanted to do. I can’t be disappointed though, as I really don’t know if I’ve ever run that fast in a road race. Maybe? I don’t know, never did many of them back in my hay-day.
Running has been going well though, and I’ve been really pleased with my training. Looking back to things since I wrapped up racing in the fall, my December kinda sucked, I mostly got back on track in January and then in early February I was knocked out for a week with some illness. But since about February 10th things have been moving along pretty smoothly, and I actually think I may be in better shape than I was back in September when I ran 75:05 for the half marathon.
I have a few more cracks at the 5k coming up soon; the first of which is just 10 days away actually, and this time I’ll be stepping on a track to do it. That’ll be weird.
But I’ve been handling 50+ mile weeks for over four weeks in a row now and the legs have been feeling great, so I’m in good spirits about that. Yes, I just want want things to click a little faster, but I need to be patient and understand running a 5k is way different than a half marathon, and I am not who I was four years ago.
I will just say it, because the chip is on my shoulder (and that’s always a good thing to have, no matter what you do), I want to break 15 again one day. I don’t need to be 14:39 again, but one day, I want a 14 to start my 5k time. And you know what? It’ll happen.
I’m not really sure if this will be the year I can break 15, but I can take a few shots at it when May comes. We’ll see what happens.
In other running related news, it looks like the Philly Marathon will be my long term goal for 2013. All 26.2 miles of it. I really wanted it to be New York, because let’s face it, New York City is the greatest city in the world, but Philly has been good to me in terms of running redemption this past year (Broad Street, RNR Half), so I can take that city down once more.
That’s it for now, hopefully I’m back soon!
